Bad thing about being from a small town. We only have farmers markets a few weeks in the summer. Coffee is NOT one of the items found there.

Being in Iowa we have lots of co-ops and ability to buy from farmers (and Amish!). Found out local coffee house sells whole beans by the bag (their own brew) I'll have to check them out. Apparently my dad uses and he uses a french press so has to be half decent :lol.

Kicking Horse is the only local coffee bean roaster that I am aware of, we also have a variety of the commercial beans (nabob, starbucks, costco, etc)

When we go to Costa Rica we typically stay in this one town Manuel Antonio, and frequent a coffee shop Cafe Milagro, they ship coffee beans anywhere ! http://cafemilagro.com

we used to order that when we would run out from our visit:lol

Another thread I let slip...

gonna pick up the press this week along with a cheap grinder at Target sometime next week. Will probably just start experimenting with what I can find locally THEN if quality is bad experiment online.

Ya just those small things can make a huge difference. Just think of all the changes the water goes through being sucked through hoses etc. With a press its all flavored in the same place w/o tubes and motors.

That is very true and the main reason I want to try a press and grinder myself.
