Morning again!!

Wednesday-Tell us about all your job and your hobbies

I'll talk about my current job and previous job since they're close together time wise...  I'll elaborate on the rest of my past jobs tomorrow...

Current job - Working for my in-laws and only been here since May...  They run their own plumbing company here in South Texas.  And have been for over 20 years.  I'm one of two office managers, the other being my brother-in-law.  We pretty much do all the invoicing to get bills in the mail to customers...  We're trying to get to the point where his dad doesn't have to do any paperwork unless he absolutely has to.

He used to go out and actually do the plumbing work, but he rarely does that anymore...  It's great working for them cause I get to go on all the trips I used to miss out on cause they went during the week sometimes and I couldn't get off work at any other job I was working...

Before working for them, I was doing IT work for a locally owned Insurance company...  It was just 2 IT people for a company of about 65...  Which isn't that bad, it's a bit easier to work with that many people, when most are computer savvy...  I enjoyed it thoroughly and miss the job a lot, great bunch of people to work with...  If I ever stop working for my in-laws, I'd go back there in an instant.

Hobbies!

My number one passion is of course Star Wars...  Another close one is Legos.  Well, I have a fairly good Star Wars Lego collection...  And it's gonna start growing here in a couple of months...  My biggest set is the Tie Interceptor that came out something like 10 years ago, if not more.  I got it as a bday present form my dad...  I plan on getting the rest of the 14+ Lego Star Wars sets...  Tantive IV, X-Wing, Star Destroyer, one of the Death Star sets and any other ones I can find.  The only reason I said a couple of months is that each of those sets range anywhere from $150 up to $400...

Video Games is another passion of mine...  As is with most of us on here...  I'm a huge fan of RPG's, I enjoy FPS's and love racing games...  I recently checked to see how many games I've played just on the 360 alone, thanks to 360voice, and I've played over 250 games...  It disgusts me a little seeing that I've played that many, but I guess I really don't care...  My wife may, but I'm not gonna tell her that number anytime soon.. :lol  It's split about 50/50 between retail and arcade...  I still play PS2 and PS1 games.  I'll fire up my SNES or NES up every now and then when I'm looking to play something real nostalgic.  And the Wii, poor thing, just sits there neglected, until my 10 year old comes down to visit...

I have a tiny sword collection.  3 from the Samurai 3000 collection (1 Katana sword, 1 Ninja sword and 1 Tanto)and 3 katana's, all different lengths, from a vendor here in Corpus that was going out of business that I got for a total of $50...  They aren't anything fancy but I like the way they look.  The 3 Samurai 3000 blades cost me about $500 total when I finally was able to get all 3.  I didn't get them all at the same time, like I had wanted to.

Lastly, is our shot glass collection...  We have about 100 different shot glasses and are always looking to expand the collection.  Every time we hear one of our friends here in town that are going out of the state, we always ask them to get us a shot glass from where ever they're going...  We have about 10 state themed glasses.  Most of them are from Vegas though when we went for my wife's 21st bday.  We grabbed a couple from every casino we stepped foot in.

One of these days when we get a place to put them all again, I'll snap a picture to put up on here...  As it stands now, they're all packed in a box still...

Alright, I finally got to catch up on this.  First.  I want PICS dangit!!!  I want to see that beautiful Siberian Husky, and I want to see that shot glass collection.  :lol

One of these days, my wife and I are going to take a cruise in Alaska.  We are going to that visiting thing you talked about.  I had enough snow, and reading your stories really reminded me that I hate the snow.  :lol

So why did you leave your IT job?  Was it because you could finally get a job with the in-laws, or did your company downsize?  Just wondering.  Got a good friend whose dad owns a local plumbing company.  Pretty cool and he hopes to take over one day.  Great having him as a friend though.  He's helped me out a few times now.  :lol

I can't wait to see your Star Wars movie.  I will be there if you guys ever get it done.  :maul

I'll put some pics up tomorrow of our Husky...  I do have quite a few pics of her up on Facebook Damian, I sent you a friend request a few days ago I believe...I don't have anything on my work computer picture wise...

Alaska cruises are pretty cool from my understanding...  From about May to September, the population increase to Juneau goes from about 35k about 100k on any given day...  Weekends are way worse...  But it's worth it...  Cruise ships dock downtown and there's a hell of a lot to do in just downtown alone...  One of the bigger attractions in Juneau is the glacier that the city has...  We lived about a quarter mile from the glacier and went to see it often cause it's mindblowing...  Our first winter, after the lake froze we actually walked the lake and got about 50 yards from the glacier...  That was fun as hell...

I left my IT job cause my In-laws asked me to come work for them...  They were about 6 months behind on invoices and few hundred thousand dollars behind cause of those invoices...  And they offered to pay me more to come work for them too...  Wife and I talked about it for about 2 weeks and I accepted their offer...
