Yum!  Those stouts look really tasty.  I've not heard of a 'foreign stout' style.  Is that something new?  Anyhow, I'm not afraid of the dark and will have to put a few of those on my buy list.

Are those, by chance, the favored brews of the Titanfall Dads Clan?  :couch

Just stumbled over these guys in my local store..

OMG

Delicous beer.

COOL marketing

I tried

beerlabel_hellrazer.jpg

HellRazer

Raze Hell

HellRazer IPA, first brewed in 2011 and now available year round, is a medium-bodied, golden IPA that gets in your face from first sweet sip to crisp, dry finish with the exotic tropical fruit flavors and aromas of New Zealand Motueka hops. With just enough malt character to keep the aggressive hop presence and unruly 7.5% abv in check, this brew was seemingly born to kick bum and RAZE HELL! The perfect beverage when you aim to misbehave.

AND

beerlabel_serum.jpg

Serum

Get your dose

Serum injects the Double IPA style with a fresh dose of big hop flavor. This medium- bodied amber nectar boasts a thin tan head, big hoppy floral bouquet, slippery, luxurious mouthfeel and strong 9% abv. While aggressively hoped at several stages of the brewing process, including a gradual two week dry-hopping, Serum remains incredibly well balanced by a smooth malt sweetness and  through to its lingering, bitter finish. First released as a seasonal beer in 2004, but now available all year round, so get your dose!

WOW

Tried a few IPAs, but it's not my thing.  I like the Bourbon barrel beer, and some dark beers.  Warsteiner Dunkel is one of my favorites but I like Oaken Barrels snake pit as a local brew.  BJs, Oaken Barrel, Sun King, Fountain Square,  and Upland all have local beers I like.  There's tons of them these days,  and a new one every time I turn around.

I find the best way to experience IPAs is by pairing them with hearty food, like burgers and Mexican cuisine. The hoppiness can really complement some dishes by cutting through the richness and sort of resetting your palate. After you've gotten used to it, you can branch out and start to recognize different flavor and aroma notes that come through from different hop varieties and the way they were added to the beer. Adding them during the boil gives more bitterness, but dry hopping during fermentation adds floral and citrus aromas. But then some people just really don't like hoppy beers, and that's okay too.

I actually did a research presentation on hops for my pharmaceutical class a few years back.  They actually drank hop tea for a number of healthy reasons.  I usually grab an IPA for those same reasons, justifying one as my preferred way to cure the common cold.  Not sure if it really works, but it's sure tastes better than Alka-Seltzer Cold & Flu.  :2thumbs

Had a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale last weekend.  Nothing medicinal this time; just enjoyed the flavor.  It's pretty much my standard for pale ales.  Tyranena Bitter Woman is my preferred local/state IPA.  I always support local/state when I can.

Tried 3floyds gum ball head this weekend.  Why is this beer so popular?  It tastes like someone cut the beer with grapefruit juice.
