Speeding ticket BOOO!

Recommended Posts

Got a speeding ticket on the way in this morning. 74 in a 55. I was doing about 65 ish in the right lane and this guy came right up on my bumper. I was about to get boxed in by the car in front of me and I sped up to pass. Sure enough as soon as I get back into the right lane after I passed, this car came in right behind me. It was pretty dark out at 6:00 and, I had no idea it was a police car until he turned his lights on. I'm gonna plead not guilty and try to reduce it. Haven't gotten a ticket in about 10 or 12 years.

I know the feeling!! Got one back in Nov. doing 74 in a 65 construction zone...Had to shell out $286.00 just before christmas and you know momma wasnt happy! But she gets a ticket for wrong address on her license and that was going to cost another $180.00 until she went to court, smiled and batted her eye lashes and the judge gave her a warning....lol women!

If you fight it, you may very well have to miss two days of work or more.  If you ever get off of work early, or have time, I would take the ticket down to the D.A.'s office and ask to speak to the Assistant D.A. on duty (ADA).  They may drop it there, or look into it at least.  If not, you could at least get put on PTI where it doesn't go on your record and you just pay the ticket.  It will stay off your record as long as you don't get another ticket in a year.

Yeah, seems about right  :lmao2

I'm not saying I don't do the 5-10 over since it's usually "safe," but I also fully expect to be accountable if I get caught going over the LIMIT. Not trying to bust balls man, but you were already speeding before your great escape, so just pay the fine, save some time and hassle, and take your lumps.

The cops in my town are tricky, their motorcycles have radar built-in so all they need to do is sit on the curb and point their bike at you driving down the street, then wham! Ticket! They got me going 45 in a 25, for about $200 + $80 for traffic school that ate up my entire Saturday.

They also started using unmarked cars & plain clothes officers sitting in a parking lot using LIDAR scopes & what looks like binoculars to tag speeding vehicles and call if in to the black & whites waiting down the road.

The worse is the indisputable signal cameras, generates a $500 ticket, that catches the red light runners & people who do a 'California Stop' then a right-turn. If you don't know what this, just ask DerPitts and he'll say, "I totally paused!"

I know how you feel bro. I recently made a trip down to NC and once I got within 30 minutes of my destination, I got pulled over for 64 in a 55. The cop flat-out told me they would probably reduce it, but it still sucks.

For the record, it was just inside the NC border where the speed limit drops from 65 to 55. Oh well, now I have to head back down there.

Oh, is that through SC to NC?  I always went home through I-95 that way, and I knew it was a speed trap.  One of my Marines got a ticket from running a red light from the traffic camera.  He said he was half asleep, driving back, and all of the sudden all kinds of lights flashed all around him like lightening.  So he was giving me a heads up that he probably has a ticket in the mail.  Two weeks later, yup, that was it.  :lol

Va is real sh++ty about going after Sailors, when the fleet comes in to Norfolk they have speedtraps on all the main roads leading out but they've been doing that since before my dads time.
