Just chiming in here- There was a discussion about this a few days ago in the WoWS TS channel... It's been a while since I've played WOT and am not overly familiar with how Strongholds and the new legionnaire setup works.... so here is my question:
Why doesn't the default voice chat in WOT work for this specific purpose? I'm thinking from the aspect of creating a platoon with non DHO players, which I have done in the past, and simply used WOT's voice chat instead of trying to figure out how to get them into TS. Does this not work for the SH/Legionnaire concept? I have more thoughts on this, but it will depend on the answers I hear.
My only concern comes from past issues we've had to opening up TS, even temporarily, to non DHO. DHO members know the rules and understand how to be respectful of others... and there are consequences to violating the rules for DHO (TS bans, etc.). Non-DHO members may not feel obligated as much as us Dads are to follow said rules or treat our server and other Dads with the same respect we will... and the idea of allowing DHO to allow non-DHO in through even some kind of guest services could create issues... here's an example that comes to mind:
DHO Member "A" invites non-DHO friend "B" to join in a channel for voice comms (no matter what the game or reason within the game, ie Platoons, Strongholds, Raids, etc.). In that channel are DHO member "C-G" also involved in said game. Non DHO "B" begins using foul language or racial slurs... this offends DHO "C-G" members and they ask "B" to stop. He does not, and becomes more of a problem in the channel... So then "C-G" ask "A", the person who started the room or invited said friend to do something about it (kick him out, etc.). Now DHO "A" is caught between friend "B" and DHO fellow dads "C-G"... he keeps "B" in, DHO "C-G" complain about it to admins.... and so on and so on.... Yes, this may be a stretch of what would happen, but if I'm correct IN THE PAST we've had issues like this... where non DHO members basically caused issues because rules didn't apply, Admins weren't immediately available to "boot" them, and so forth. Yes... we should all be adults... yes, we should respect DHO and DHO requests first and foremost as TS is specifically for DHO only... Yes we shouldn't invite those we know may cause issues... However this doesn't always happen and past issues with non-DHO in TS have me very concerned about allowing any access to the TS server.
That's why I asked about whether in-game chat/comms would work. If not, then I guess I'm not offering a solution other than to look at other comm systems like Discord or the likes to set up a more "lax" place for this kind of combined play. I just wanted to voice concern over non-DHO members having access to TS.
