Love TW! Have most of them... I suggest Medieval 2 ($5 is worth every penny)... my personal Fav. You can get all kinds of cool mods for Med2, including Skyrim, Game of Thrones and Middle Earth.

SGrant7 : (14 July 2017 - 08:25 AM)

Ohhhh... Middle Earth would be pretty awesome!

Although not related to a book or movie, the Stainless Steel mod is pretty EPIC too.

Options: We can set all guests to be unable to move from the default join channel. Meaning that all members of the Commander server group would have to be active in adding rights, setting to sever group "normal" to any member that joins them.

AND/OR!!!we can make use of the temporary password, and we can make it so that they can be assigned to one channel when they use the password. I would suggest something simple like Stronghold# where # is the specific room they would be in.I strongly suggest that any SH room created be a temporary channel made by the leader of the SH battle. That will help eliminate some of the clutter later--like when SH is over.( I am on TS now, looking at grabbing a helper to test some stuff)

I am thinking that something along these lines will meet the needs of the DHO clanwars/strongholds and keep our Teamspeak from becoming cluttered with non-DHO.

I need to configure some stuff, and get a guinea pig to test for me.

ok, this is MAJORLY important.

Once this is implemented, the server temporary passwords will have to be monitored. If a password gets set for longer than 1 hour, it will need to be deleted. The people that can create a temporary passwords will need to be decided, and restricted more so than just the commander position.Thinking of making a SH lead server group for this specific purpose. It will be awarded in conjunction to "normal" or "commander" server group. since you can have more than one, but will have to be sure there are no conflicts.

I think Sly and Holsy are two of your best bets for feedback here (temp passwords vs other options), but just wanted to chime in and say thanks in advance.

I'd post more but you said no history or drama ;-)

I love it when a plan comes together.  Looks good.  Once your testing is done, let me know.  I will work with the team and get the "rules" sorted out, get the admins on board, and then we can launch it.

I think that we are well on our way to making it more flexible to meet the needs of the Dads, but still meet the intent of DHO TS is for DHO!

Just my two cents from a different game.  When I was the member of an FFXIV raid clan we had a TS server and occasionally we had the need for non-clan people hop on to run dungeon raids with us.  What they did was to allow guests to only join the default channel and then a clan member had to drag them down into the appropriate channel.  And they did have some rules about the number of guests per channel, basically to keep people from inviting an entire non-clan raid group to use the server. And I remember the timeout in the default channel was pretty aggressive, something like 2 mins or so and it was set so nobody but admins could talk.

Are you talking about a temporary server password or a temp channel password?I think you might be overthinking this a bit.Really would be much more efficient and in line with other the typical administration of other TS servers to have guest/no access when they get to a welcome area and then enable an admin to move them to an appropriate room. That's enough to get this rolling. You can also look into giving someone a temp or guest role that identifies them as having at least been on our TS server before and behaving. It doesn't necessarily need to give them any actual permission - just an icon that lets you know they've been there before.

I'd still like to add other role icons to help indicate what games people play and what DHO subgroups they are a part of but that is secondary to the need to be able to get people on in a controlled fashion for relatively short periods of time.

Just chiming in here-  There was a discussion about this a few days ago in the WoWS TS channel...  It's been a while since I've played WOT and am not overly familiar with how Strongholds and the new legionnaire setup works.... so here is my question:

Why doesn't the default voice chat in WOT work for this specific purpose? I'm thinking from the aspect of creating a platoon with non DHO players, which I have done in the past, and simply used WOT's voice chat instead of trying to figure out how to get them into TS.  Does this not work for the SH/Legionnaire concept? I have more thoughts on this, but it will depend on the answers I hear.

My only concern comes from past issues we've had to opening up TS, even temporarily, to non DHO.  DHO members know the rules and understand how to be respectful of others... and there are consequences to violating the rules for DHO (TS bans, etc.).  Non-DHO members may not feel obligated as much as us Dads are to follow said rules or treat our server and other Dads with the same respect we will...  and the idea of allowing DHO to allow non-DHO in through even some kind of guest services could create issues...  here's an example that comes to mind:

DHO Member "A" invites non-DHO friend "B" to join in a channel for voice comms (no matter what the game or reason within the game, ie Platoons, Strongholds, Raids, etc.).  In that channel are DHO member "C-G" also involved in said game.  Non DHO "B" begins using foul language or racial slurs...  this offends DHO "C-G" members and they ask "B" to stop.  He does not, and becomes more of a problem in the channel...  So then "C-G" ask "A", the person who started the room or invited said friend to do something about it (kick him out, etc.).  Now DHO "A" is caught between friend "B" and DHO fellow dads "C-G"... he keeps "B" in, DHO "C-G" complain about it to admins.... and so on and so on.... Yes, this may be a stretch of what would happen, but if I'm correct IN THE PAST we've had issues like this... where non DHO members basically caused issues because rules didn't apply, Admins weren't immediately available to "boot" them, and so forth.  Yes... we should all be adults... yes, we should respect DHO and DHO requests first and foremost as TS is specifically for DHO only... Yes we shouldn't invite those we know may cause issues... However this doesn't always happen and past issues with non-DHO in TS have me very concerned about allowing any access to the TS server.

That's why I asked about whether in-game chat/comms would work.  If not, then I guess I'm not offering a solution other than to look at other comm systems like Discord or the likes to set up a more "lax" place for this kind of combined play.  I just wanted to voice concern over non-DHO members having access to TS.

The in-game comms are terrible. Anyone that plays regularly has certainly disabled them.
