Welcome to the forums sgt. flint :)

sgt. flint : (24 April 2017 - 11:38 PM)

Hey All......anyone out there from 2 years ago remember me?

sgt. flint : (24 April 2017 - 11:39 PM)

just started playing WOT again and looking for a clan or group

bergsteiger : (25 April 2017 - 08:31 AM)

Crazy night. Got all my wins AFTER I quit tooning. Very unusual.

The_Dad : (25 April 2017 - 08:36 AM)

similar experience last night... all my wins were BEFORE I started platooning

NeoGP : (25 April 2017 - 10:25 AM)

Hey Flint!

xtc4 : (25 April 2017 - 11:28 AM)

With new mm, having good players at the top of the list seems to make a huge difference. And platooning seems to almost always put you at bottom of the list. So perhaps it makes sense that you good players are winning when playing solo.

Archaic : (25 April 2017 - 11:14 PM)

Yes, platoons seem to be pretty gimped with 3-5-7

sgt. flint : (26 April 2017 - 02:12 AM)

Hey Neo, yes i remember you. any others from the old crew still running?

NeoGP : (26 April 2017 - 10:17 AM)

not sure man..I haven't played wot in 2+ years, alot of changes throughout the 5 clans

SGrant7 : (26 April 2017 - 12:05 PM)

Haven't been on much in the last few days, but are 2 man platoons fairing much better?

bergsteiger : (26 April 2017 - 02:38 PM)

Platooning doesn't seem as big of an issue as Tier 8s. Don't think I've had a single game that I was top tier in an VIII

joey791 : (27 April 2017 - 04:13 PM)

Old_Fart_63 : (28 April 2017 - 05:04 PM)

I've done two rooms in my home with bamboo and it worked great, Just remember to leave that space for swelling of flooring. Can't really add anything to what has already been said.

Old_Fart_63 : (28 April 2017 - 05:05 PM)

The new laminate flooring "No nails" is a big change in flooring and it looks beautiful

I played around 50 battles in the O-Ni this last week (60% wins, 1900 WN8, and 1500 average damage) and find it to be strangely enjoyable. It's nice to bounce shots from higher tier tanks and also be able to damage them with the derp gun. However, I ran into another O-Ni and during a short range frontal engagement and I was totally owned. I guess I could have just placed my shots poorly but this guy was taking 25-50 damage from my shots and I was taking the usual 200-300 damage from his shots. Could he have been using a super heavy spall liner? Does anyone else use those on their heavy tanks? I'm thinking about testing one out either on the O-Ni or O-I. I'm currently using Vents, Rammer, and GLD; which should I drop for the spall liner? I'm leaning towards Vents.

Never used one before on any of my heavies , found this thread where someone ran some tests with it http://forum.worldof...l-liner-tested/. Conclusions as to its damage effects are as follows:

In the HE test (and it is worth remembering, the SHSL only affects HE splash damage - other ammo types and HE rounds that pen are not affected by the SHSL) without the SHSL mounted the KV-5 took 7 hits to be destroyed and lost 5 crew in the process.  Ouch.

Adding the SHSL meant it took 8 hits to kill and, more importantly, only a single crewman died during the whole test - the radio operator, but he always dies anyway.  So in terms of crew survivability it made a big difference.

Damage wise, the average damage per shot without the SHSL was 267, and with the SHSL it was 228 - a difference of 14.6%.

FWIW you should use them if you plan on ignoring arty.  You should not use them if you are comfortable at being 'arty safe'.  It is a tactical decision based on how you play your tank.  Other tanks shooting HE rarely effect you either way.  Generally speaking people shooting HE at hard to pen tanks are going to be taken out fairly easily.  And if you are using a premium health kit it generally provides you with enough of a gain in health to offset losses in crew.

The only tank I've ever used one on over other options was my T29.  Since I typically play hull down on that I'm usually prone to being artied and 304s in particular tend to be able to shut down an entire game if I don't have one while they are barely noticed when I do have one on.

If I had a T95 I would put one on and I would consider it if I ran my E5 in pub games only.

Thanks, very interesting.

I was experiencing a much greater damage differential. Must have been poor shot placement on my part. I still might try a spall liner, probably on the O-I as there are a lot of tier V derp guns around during O-I battles.

This enemy O-I was playing pretty well against my O-Ni on a Ruinberg corner...then I penned the track area weak spot and one-shot him for 970 damage!

Bought the O-Ho with the holiday discount. Still having fun derping enemy tanks but the horrid gun depression over the mini-turrets is really annoying, it can be really difficult to angle the armor and still have the depression to hit the enemy.
