  1. I agree with your opinion of priorities. Right now we are at a vulnerable spot and slowly moving up. I'm still lost on what to do to ensure security for myself in the long run. With my next semester of college starting on the 26th I'm trying to get all the major things done and ensure stability going into 2020 including possibly refinancing a loan (remodel) and fixing up major things on house before the winter. It feels like the world is on my shoulders even with the newish extra income.
  2. Before I get to the bad...the past few months have been a huge relieve for me. I love my newish job working for one of Job Corp's contractors as I've gotten to learn a lot professionally. My wife also took a new job offer helping to relieve financial stress off of me as her old job (as a asst. manager) paid less than my job did. I've actually had some spark and the financial freedom has been awesome! On Saturday I found out that my wife took out a loan for her parents at a loan shark place in town to help her mom pay the electric bill. Worst of all she hid it from me ripping up the receipt when I found it sitting in our car. It ruined a date night I had been wanting to do for a long time. A bit of a refresher on my in-law's situation...they are both retired with a very limited IRA fund. They have two broke down vehicles (not paid for) in the drive way and a van that is barley alive. They reside in low income housing. Her brother, 25, also resides in their household and brings in very low income. Essentially they are self destructive financially and do what "feels good". Her brother is catfished a lot and sends money to random people he doesn't even know, hence "feel good" instead of helping with bills. Needless to say I am pissed as my wife is still paying on defaulted loans that she took out for her parents as a teenager and she put OUR financial stability at risk. At this point I've set it straight that her brother is not to step foot onto our property until he grows a pair of balls and helps with his parents and cuts the crap and that any stunts like this would lead to a divorce using our already established child custody agreement. Asides sitting back money JIC SHTF does anyone have any suggestions? I'm trying to get my wife to attend counseling with me.
  3. My wife pretty well avoids politics and runs with the flow. I'm pretty well set in in my ways and have different views including those that almost lead to a divorce between us.
  4. Title says it all I've got a few titles at work soooo..... Driver: Human Relocation Engineer Safety & Security: Animal Control Specialist Paper printer/copier/shredder/hole puncher Engineer Paper filing Specialist Data Entry Specialist
  5. Agreed with the chicken. Two in one win weed the back yard and fresh eggs but wife seems to think only eggs that turn profit for other people are good enough:/ Maybe I'll have to get me a Mennonite or Amish gal...;)
  6. The past few months have moved fast. I'm nearly done with my AAS, six months working for Job Corps contractor and now my wife has finally moved away from the poverty wage management position. Our financial situation has improved greatly as well. Over the past few months my views on a pet have changed due to some of these positive changes. With Junior being special needs having delayed growth in some areas I was wondering if anyone has any experience (good or bad) when it comes to introducing cats into the home with a special needs child around. From some of the reports I've read some cats (depending on personality) can help a child relax and even promote certain skills. If I could get my wife to agree I'd be aiming towards chickens but I doubt the day will ever come.... Any input is appreciated. TIA.
  7. For the past six months I've been working for Career Systems Development (Job Corps) mainly as transportation but also assisting in security as well. Granted I am not required to wear a specific brand of pants as transportation is more lax than security I've found myself liking 5.11 as they ain't ball huggers and I can fit my 1.75 SOE riggers belt into the loops with out issue. Way more flexible than my Dockers too! Also being a left handed shooter the cell phone pocket comes in handy for carrying my spare mag when off the clockčśĆ My boss mentioned that some companies will give discounts to Federal Contractor employees working as security. Off the bat I have not been able to find any. Any one know of any such companies that exist? TIA
  8. One day Jack comes home to find his wife, Theresa, on the couch curled up to a little kitten. Jack asks "what the hell?" his wife looks back and says "it was so cute I had to have it!" With displeasure Jack didn't say another word. After a few weeks later Theresa comes home to find Jack curled up on the couch with another woman. "What the hell?" exclaims Theresa. "Just brought home some cute p***y like you did!" replies Jack.
  9. Sunday will mark the end of my probation period with my current company. At the interview I was very clear that I would like to move into an office job at the company...well it just so happens they've had an internal job open up in records. Just by looking at the requirements I am over qualified. The pay is potentially more than my current position (driver & security) and days along with an option for 5 8's or 4 10's for shifts. With the blessing of my manager and the go ahead from HR I am going to be working on my resume and cover letter over the weekend. Any suggestions that apply to resumes and cover letters when applying internally? I've never done this. I think they know what I am capable of with my background plus my growing academic portfolio.
  10. Any particular brands or websites you recommend?
  11. I misquoted my toner prices for name brand...would be more around $300 for the set. Looks like off brand is going to be way cheaper.
  12. Exactly. Got a feeling a lot of private information (address, phone number, income, etc.) probably get sold to 3rd party vendors for advertising. Heck at JH privacy and bank statements take up more paper than the actual 1040s (both state and fed).
  13. Not gonna lie I am deeply wondering how these sites provide "free" efile.
  14. Took out one consolidation loan for massive CC debt I pretty well had to use to survive when we first bought house. It'll be paid off once taxes are back in (completing return this weekend). Opening up a 2nd savings for actual savings instead of put back bill money. Gotta find a way to cash flow what I am estimating to be a 3,000 to 5,000 soft bathroom remodel for upstairs...last person laid carpet and didn't know what they was doing last remodel.
